Film crews are always required to obtain film permits when filming on public spaces like streets, pavements, sidewalks, government owned buildings etc. These permits are issued by local councils in respective regions or areas where shoots take place. The Gauteng Film Commission recommends that permissions be applied for at least 7 working days before the filming is due to commence.
The Gauteng Film Commission will also assist in identifying suitable filming locations (generic or scenic). We can also offer listings of location scouts, location managers, facilitation companies and location agencies who offer services securing private locations.
